Idiot light on at idle

The oil light comes on when when I come to a stop. As soon as I acelerate the light goes off. I don't have a pressure guage so I don't know what it is reading. Can anyone shed some light?

Don't drive the car until you check the oil pressure with a mechanical guage. If below 10 lbs pressure, remove the oil pump cover and check the pump cover machined face for scratches and gouges, and the gears. If bad, either face the surface smooth or buy an oil pump kit and new pump cover. Hopefully it is not too late for the bearings. if it is not the pump, pull the motor. Good luck

I agree don't drive the car until checked.

If it is under 4 psi. it is not good.

For the good news mine did the same thing when hot and my gauge read and still reads 20 at idle.

Replacement senders are available.

Now go check the pressure pronto!
