Idle problem

First off, what should my car idle at with a stock tranny stock rearend gears, 2800 stall at 55 mph. I don't recall what it is, but mine was about 2200 rpm in overdrive. Second, after I got into town, I disengaged the cruise control and slowed down to the speed limit of 35. The car coasted at that speed for over two miles. The rpms stayed at 2000. Not until I hit the brakes to slow down did the rpms drop. At the stop light the car idled at 1000 rpms. I don't recall this ever happening before. I appreciate your imput. Thanks in advance.

There is a procedure to set minimum idle speed between 450-550 in drive. Then after procedure the and you plug the IAC back in the computer takes idle speed control over and mine sits around 850-900 in drive. You may need to perform a minimum idle procedure
