idols up between reverse and drive

For as long as I can remember my 87 GN idols up for a moment between reverse and drive. Also from drive to reverse. I always thought it was normal. Is it normal? If not, where might it be coming from?

Normal. Engine compensates for the load of being in gear. When you pass through neutral the idle spikes....but very little.

Actually I think its the reaction time between the mechanical linkage and the IAC doing its job.
