Will it stay polished or will it turn a funky brown like I've heard?

I've been kicking around polishing it for a long time, and I was thinking of doing it when the weather turns snow here as it's a good winter project.

For those of you that have done this, is it worth the manual effort or does it not last because of the heat?

TIA
Rich

what about if you use a high temp sealer?
like a really high temp clear coat type product?

i was thinking about polishing mine and would really like to... i have no heat so you see alot of downpipe... guyss it wont be a good idea

If you want it to last you'd better get it coated. I'm not sure you could seal it up after polishing, but hey, give it a shot, let us know.

send it out and have it powder coated silver it will look much better much longer!

Jet-Hot holds up very well on the downpipe.
FWIW & IMHO:
Also, I kind of like the look of the downpipe after it is polished and turns brown. On this car, it almost matches the gold anodizing of the backplate on the compressor wheel housing.
I think that it looks much better than non-polished stainless downpipes.

Yeah, that looks kinda cool - has like a gold tint to it.

I don't think it looks brown and crappy at all, at least in the pic you have online.

I'm going to try it just for the hell of it.

Mine will be exposed to the exterior of the car for about 10-12". I had every intention of polishing it and letting it stick out for the "whatthehellisthat?" factor. Now I'm not so sure about polishing it. I don't think the "gold" hue looks that bad but can someone else post pics of other finishes and tell us what they are. I pass the Jet-Hot place everyday on the way to work so that'd be an easy one. I think I'd like it a little shinier though.

Chrome plating? It'd turn blue also I think. Had Hooker chrome headers and sidepipes on my old 'Vette and it was "blued" from the heads almost to the collectors.

mine has been jet hot coated for 4 years now, but it doesn't get driven or raced much and today i noticed the wastegate tube has a hole rusted thru in it. i got it a little lean a BG this year and the jet hot went to ****. they make a 2000 degree coating that looks like stucco and is way expensive. i'm getting an atr and polishing it next time.
