If I am running alky could i use 87 octane and still have no knock at say....20-21 PSI? if so I might buy a kit sooner than later and run 87 all day long.

I thought about it too at one time but for the .20 cent difference I dont think it would be worth it, maybe it would. I think as long as you have a knock detector that is working properly or a scan tool you may be ok. Let us know

I think the big problem has to do with greed. And with boost.. greed is a bad thing, let alone playing with limited octane.

I know tons of guys running 91 octane in Ca with big boost. I have never experimented with 87 and run big boost on it.

If you try.. let us know, maybe doing a lower timing chip+alky more than likely can handle it.

So theoretically yes. :D

greed...Razor you are so right!!! It's like my friends who first get a turbo and want an electronic boost controller so they can have a low and high boost setting. not ONE has gone to a low setting...they always set boost for all the power they can get!!!

There is more to gas the just octane. The quality of the brew, and ingredients vary, so there is something to the saying you get what you pay for. IMO, as stressed as a TR engine is, I perfer to spend a little more, just as insurance.
