New owner of an 87 WE4 t-Type What is causing my ignition key to stick? It Doesn't just go smoothly to the off position. Is this common? What do I need to look at to fix it?

If its a column shifter try pulling up on it while turning the key. The lock cylinder might be worn out also.

Sent from my A110

Turn the base of the steering column counter clockwise and remove key. I have the floor shifter.

^What Brad said. That's usually an indicator of a bent shifter bracket on the trans or a cable that's about to fail. (assUming it was adjusted right in the first place).

I will give that a shot and take a look at the linkage. I had a 70 dodge that had a very similar issue. It was remedied by turning the steering collar.
Thanks!

...and just something to put in your mental bank... If the shift cable ever breaks, grabbing the steering column will let you change gears and get you home (and all over the place until the new cable comes in)
