Ignition module

Can the signal that the ignition module sends to the tachometer
be read by a regular voltmeter and is there a ideal voltage.

It's not a voltage, it's a pulse train.

Thank you for the responce. Do you know of a way
to determine if the pulse is reaching the tach I am trying
to determine if there is a problem with the tach,wiring or
the ignition module
