AHHH that switch . I used a Standard US-105. No issues so far.

OK good. Reading the STD is the best next to OEM. The "T" is for tilt wheel.

If I may ask, what issue has you replacing the switch? I’m chasing a periodic failure of the fuel pump to prime, and looking at the ignition switch as a possible culprit.

I replaced mine due to age & the terminals not allowing the same voltage.

I think I gained a volt back after the switch. Had 13ish at battery & alternator a bit less on Scanmaster.

I was having issues with the fuel pump priming then while driving the car stalled: lost fuel pump, ac/heater fan blower, trans solenoid (no gear) and high beams. I believe its one of the fusable starter links or ignition switch plug. I really dont know. Hope someone else chimes in

Oh once I got the car home the high beams starting working again. Good times!

Post an update with results. My ignition switch is at least 25yrs old. I was going to put in a new switch just to eliminate it as a possible cause.

I have 11.6v at the ECM/IGN fuse & with the headlights on 11.2V. Battery voltage 12.1

I think I have a fusible link issue not under dash ignition switch.

Also check your voltage at the alternator. Could be the + battery cable if it hasn't been changed. I go battery to ground, get voltage, alternator to get ground, & get voltage. That verifies that my battery & cable from the battery to alternator are good(as long as voltages are close). Then I head into cabin & check voltage.

Hello everyone. Hope all is well. I'm having a problem with my battery losing voltage when I turn the key to the "run" position. As a result, car will not start. I did a "parasitic drain" check. It's within specs, 38 Mili amps. [.038] I did some checking with "fusible links." Also, I relocated all "five" of them up on to plastic inner fender years ago, I really didn't think the "starter solenoid" was an ideal location. I brought a feed from the battery to supply power. Anyway, there is not a whole lot of information with regard to fuse links. I found some in the GM books I have, but not a...

Walmart sells 4ga wire in 12/18/24” lengths with ring terminals, adding some extra grounds might be worthwhile.

Replaced the ignition switch and still no change.

background: I started the buick and my high beams flickered, then went out. I believe I also heard an electric “zipping” noise. I turned off the high beams and drove to work. While driving, the car suddenly lost power—fuel pump, transmission solenoid (no gears now), and blower motor all stopped working, and the car stalled. Once I got the car back home, the high beams came back on only.

Did my research and purchased Casper’s fusible link kit and a new ignition switch (under the dash). Nothing looked burnt or damaged, but I replaced both anyway and checked all fuses. After all that, there’s still no change.

I would greatly appreciate guidance, as I’m not sure where to go from here.

Side note: The ignition switch replacement was not bad at all. Taking pictures of the setup prior to uninstalling and paying attention to the screw head indentation location made it easy.

Removing these two bolts made access easier. You’ll need a short 90° phillips to get the middle screw out. I took an old screwdriver, removed the shank from the plastic handle, and bent it to 90°. I hope this helps someone.

Oh fun fact, I discovered the hot wire fuel pump kit had the 10 ga ground connected to battery chassis fender screw not direct to battery. Its fixed now I wonder what dummy did that probablyTurbo Archie ha ha.
