I just got my car tested, and it passed, Whew!!!! Anyway, Illinois runs your car on a dyno. They take an emissions sample at 34mph and 57mph, and take a composite reading of the 2 tests. Hydrocarbons standard is 1.051 grams and CO standard is 10.715 grams. They also check your gas cap for leaks. They DO NOT check for NOx or CO2 in Illinois on this old of a car. All i did to my car before testing was install a 195 thermostat. I passed with a HC reading of .833 and a CO reading of 10.569

If it doesn't pass, you get two more tries after you do repairs. After that, you need receipts from a mechanic. Once the total of those receipts is greater than $450, you can apply for a waiver.
