I dont have a dog in this fight ...but. Seems to me you have a decent product, and all the $$ you have lost up to this point is part of the unfortunate but necessary education process that comes with any new type product or business. If you remove issues that arose ( and most of us have been there ) this would have been a good thing.
What im getting at is if you would step back and take care of whats in front of you right now. ( dont take on anymore). just get these guys handled. Then instead of taking orders make 10 or 20 and sell them. U could still make a lil money and provide a part that it looks like these guys will buy. You have already done the hard part.
