getting rid of AC, STILL WANT HEAT!

i would like to know if anyone here has made a heater core and blower motor and firewall plate and has pics to show-

im going to be making my own, and just want to compare notes

Hey Bryan I was just looking at doing this to my car the other day. I have a buddy that owns a custom aluminum shop and he thinks he can make me a custom cover. I'm not going to do anything to it till this winter. But when I do I'll snap some pics and maybe have him make 2.

Then again still kicking that vet idea around.

Find a early/mid 80's Monte Carlo without a/c. Everything should fit and look like it came that way from GM.

Ya also may wanna try an early 80's Malibu. It may be easier to find a non ac Malibu then a non ac Monte Carlo

either way, that is a good idea-

i just thought most had AC from early 80's on up

The Non A/C boxs are a PITA.
All the behind dash ducting is different.
There are some remote self contained heater boxes, Flexilite, vintage air have e,.

i just sold my 13K cloth t-top TTA to purchase a hardtop cloth tta-
someone has to know of a hardtop cloth car out there??

chris taylor- pm me about the ac box, i can get it out in one piece, cause the inner fender will be out to remove the engine harness-

i used a flexalite mojave heater (part number 230640 149.99 at ramchargers) and ducting box (part 230650 38.97 at ramchargers) for my car.
2 -8 bulkhead fitting to run the coolant thru the firewall plate and you are all set. my heater controls still select between vent and defrost and the blower is hooked up to the mojave box.

Do the non-AC boxes provide any more space for head and valve cover clrnc compared to the stock GN box?

Yes, they give more room. The non-A/C box is just a small fiberglass box with a blower motor. Look at some of the old musclecars, most of them were A/C delete. Box looks just the same.
