I don't think the Dems completely want socialism but they sure aren't afraid to " buy" the votes of the gimmie, gimmie free stuff people. Might as well be false promises due to the expense of such free stuff. Ya you can just print money but it won't work forever.

Raising the minimum wage looks good at first but then costs will rise on everything. Then the minimum wage won't be enough again and so forth.

Exactly. Raising minimum wages hurts the middle class the most as I am sure their income will not be adjusted while prices increase.
Now, I have seen arguments that cost will increase minimally but we all know that without oversight (which I don't agree with) companies will milk the opportunity for increased profits.
The way out for people is to improve, not stand still and increase.

Ain't that the truth. In the comminist state of ny on 1-1-21 it goes to $12.50 an hour. Can you believe they pay 14-15yo old kids that much to push shopping carts (Half the time they're just standing around talking about they are worth more) back in the store or to run a cash register. Minimum wage isn't supposed to be family supporting wage. But these states know they'll collect more taxes and say they didn't raise taxes.

It's a tough issue because there are a lot of good hard working honest people trying to raise families on minimum wage, working 2-3 jobs. I wish there was a way to support them without penalizing the middle class. Maybe lower min wage taxes so their take home is equivalent to raising minimum wage, while passing regulation to NOT raise taxes for the middle class and essentials, where transportation and homes are considered essential. Raise taxes for corporations that are using loop holes and have their base in foreign countries. Level the playing field.
In a couple years ny's will be $15 an hour, already is in nyc. Its just no feasible to pay someone that kind of money for sweeping the floor. There's still jobs out there that pay good money, plumber, carpenter, electrician, welder, you know, the crafts but most of these people don't want to get their lily creamy white hands dirty. They're top shelf CEO material. Like what's a gender studies graduate worth now a days, tits on a boar, lol. Why these stupid parents spend 10s of 1,000s of dollars sending these idiots to college for some worthless degree is beyond me. Now they have them living in the basement.

My mom beat me like that once when I was 10, she used a piece of "Hot Wheels" track (you all remember those orange strips of plastic). It lasted from the carport door of the kid who lived across the street to the carport door at our house.
Longest 75 yards I've ever tried to run/had my ass dragged........
She TOLD me early that morning to pick up my Hot Wheels stuff from the living room before she got home from work......... She was having company that evening.
