This is crap! I backflushed my cooling system about 2 weeks ago, and since then, I have replaced the heater core, hoses, heater control valve, water pump, and damn near every hose clamp on the car. I know its good to do it, but geez, this stuff gets expensive. Now that I have ranted, I'm sure my radiator will let go tomorrow on the way to work

which brings the point...if it ain't broke, leave it alone!

Bad idea to never flush a cooling system.:(

Like other areas of the car, the cooling system needs periodic maintaince. When lots of parts need replaced at once, it shows lack of proper service.

We recommend drain and refill [flush] twice a year. For half an hour's work and $5 to $15 dollars, depending if you need antifreeze in the winter, an inexpensive and effective way to keep this VERY important system working at top effiency.

Local cars I service have made it through many hot summers without overheating or cooling problems. This is attributed to proper service and always using RMI-25 in the cooling system.

I with Nick. Would you NOT change the oil in your engine either?? If these items went 'bad' after a flush they were on their way out anyway and woudl have let you down in traffic in the heat of summer.. These are the normal items that you HAVE to replace anyway on a 17 year old car..

like I said, I was just venting. I don't plan on neglecting anything on this car, but it is frustrating when you're a broke college student trying to pay for school and rent, and then get surprised with a broken car.

I hear ya.. But thats a part of the cons of a classic 17 year old musclecar :(
