I'm looking at the possibility of changing over my GNX Dash instrumentation light bulbs to LEDs. The idiot light panel is presently using GE 1816 3v bulbs...and the VDO gauges are using type A 9/32" 600802 bayonet type bulbs 2v.

Can anyone help and direct me to a vendor or website that may be able to identify these bulbs and cross reference them?

thx.

Try Dennis Kirban on this, he's very knowledgeable on this subject. He's at denniskirban@yahoo.com , but give him time to answer as he's a real busy guy. Hope this helps you.

There are bulbs for the dash lights 168 bulbs, but I don't know about the others.

I put them in and there nice and bright but the pollarity sensitive so you have to get them in the socket in the right orientation or they won't work.

LED Dash Lights

Thanks for all your help......but my dash is not stock........so non of these bulbs are used. I've got a GNX dash conversion using VDO gauges and utilizing an AVC wiring harness.

What colour did you use? And how bright are they? They're not like, blinding at night are they?

White. No they aren't blinding the're good for old eyes.

Now one downside is the dimmer isn't as effective. It dimms just a little before they go completely off

LED Dash Lights

I just did this for all my interior lights including the GNX dash with vdo gauges. They (VDO gauges) take a special bulb except for the speedo.

I got all my lights from here. LEDLight.com: Online Shopping for LED Lighting Products

The VDO bulb is here. T7 LED Light - Automotive LED Lights - LEDLight

WOW! This is great! Thanks for the info....exactly what I was looking for.

Can you tell me how they look at night....(are they any brighter than the standard VDO 2Watt insturment bulbs)?

Now I just need to find the LED replacements for GE 1895 bulb....these are used in the speedo and my turn signal / hi beam sockets and some GE 1816 bulbs which are used in my AVC idiot light panel sockets.

Looks like #32323 short round 1 LED BA9S will work for the idiot lights and turn signal / hi beam bulbs. Will the 1 LED be bright enough? or will it need more LED to = output of incandescent?
Should I go bright white on the idiot lights or a coloured lamp the same colour as the lens" ie greeen, blue , yellow red etc....I've seen when white LED bulbs are used on say the red tail light lens, that the light looks pink, where as if a red LED was used it appears to be bright red. Can anyone verify this as I'm not sure which colour to go with on the idiot lights?

For the speedo, I'm looking at a multi LED (5 or 6) that fire at sides to add better illumination to my speedo. Guess this should be bright white?

Thanks in advance.

Dave,

I went with the blue lights. There are just as bright if not brighter than the incandescent. I will tell you that every person who has seen them loves them and comments that it was a huge improvement over the stock lighting.

I even did the lights for the ac control and the shifter.

I called directly to the link provided and they were very helpful. They took the time to answer all my questions even for what I'm sure was a small sale for them.

If you look on their site they do list what bulbs are replaced by each bulb.

Hope this helps.

Been a huge help, thanks alot.

Did you use the single LED lights for your VDO gauges? or multiple?
Can you send me a pic of the blue LED's in your VDO gauges when illuminated at night? I'd love to see them. I was thinking of going with a multiple LED with side and front output for the speedo (as I'm told the old mechanical speedo like I have in Cockpit, don't appear very bright compared to the rest of the gauges....) the vision series have better lighting, but unfortunately all mine are cockpit series.

Thanks,

dave

Here's some pic's I just took in the garage. Quality is not great but you can get the general idea.
