I.m trying to find the issues of my headers melting and have been studying all posibilities. What are people using with a IPU crank trigger. Fast says 40 us and dfi says start at 110 us.

Inductive delay is all about speed and unrelated to load, so it is a check you can do in the driveway fairly easily. Force the timing to 20 degrees or so, make sure it is DEAD ON at idle, and then free rev it to 5000 RPM and make sure it's DEAD ON again. Adjust the delay until the timing is exactly the same at both speeds and you'll be in good shape. I would expect your Gen 7 setup with an MSD box to be in the 100 microsecond area.

I guess i have to lean into the engine at 5k, kinda scary a bit......

thanks

I can relate to not wanting to be super close to an engine running at that speed, watching one of my own engines come apart at 5K on the dyno. However you manage it, the idea is to verify that ignition timing is not impacted by engine speed.
