Info on Trans Am's

I am looking at buying a 79 Trans Am and need some information about them. Where would I get some information about what is a good price to pay and where would I get replacement parts. The vin is 2w87z9n124592. How do I decode this vin. I would appreciate any information.

JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD...

i can tell you the car is a true T/A(2W87)4-speed (Z) and it was made in the Norwalk, Ohio(N) plant. the "9" between the Z and the N is for the model year '79.because it has the 4-speed, it would have the Pontiac 400 motor,as the auto came with the Olds 403motor.i owned 4 of them. any other questions? here are some links:
