While i have the trans apart i decided to have the input shaft 3 sealing rings replaced. The trans shop put the 2 split rings on like normal and then installed a white color solid plastic (nylon/teflon)ring on the rear groove. The ring looks too big in diameter. Is there a diameter of the ring someone could give me so ican verify it is correct.
thanks,
Mitch

I could be wrong but I'll take a shot! I believe the solid ring must be stretched a little to get it in place. It takes some time for it to shrink back down. Maybe they stretched it too much?? Maybe this is why replacing them isnt recomended unles they are cut. Someone correct me if im wrong.

You have to stretch the Solid ring to fit in the groove. I do Not know if bruce uses this, but there is a Sizing tool that you can buy. Its tapered going in and it shrinks the solid ring to the proper size. If the ring is not sized properly, it can be sheared off when installing the pump assembly.

Bruce uses...

His hands and fingers. I hand fit every one. I dont use a sizing tool. A heater makes it nice as ring will expand then contract making things easier. Always use a solid ring , not a scarf cut , if whenever possible. Again, I do everyone by hand.
