I purchased a Stage 2 transmission and a billet 9x11 torque converter from Chris at CK Performance in May( received the tranny in May). I thought that I would get around to installing it right away but between work and the kids it did not happen until two weekends ago. Dealing with venders on this car has been a real learning experience. I have been taken advantage of by a few. Now I research everbody. When recieved the tranny from CK I was at first a little disappointed. The case was not clean. It looked like it might have been pressure washed,,,, but I was going to reserve judgment until it was installed,,,, after all I did lots of research before I purchased this tranny from CK. The inside of the tranny was spotless and I guess this is what counts.

Here is my verdic: the car runs like a raped ape!! Problems that I thought to be caused by tuning such as the boost dipping during a gear change are gone. It is not the same car.
How does it shift you might ask???? While driving the car normal you would not know the tranny over a stock tranny except that the low throttle shifts are smoother and the full throttle shifts are much firmer and quicker.

I did expect the tranny to run over the entire throttle range as good as it does. I have my cake and I'm eating all of it myself.

Thanks Chris

Hey man, thanks for the info. How much was the shipping to get your old tranny to ck or did you not ship them a core?

I am thinking of getting a tranny that away, but was worried about the install.

I kept my old tranny. I purchased everything from CK so he cut me a bit of break on the core charge. I like the tranny. You will need to keep a few small parts like the speedo gear off your old tranny.

The install is not bad. It would have been much easier if I had something to left the tranny into place. I used a large floor jack and a piece of plywood. Make sure you grease the seals and get the torque converter pushed all the way into the tranny before you mate the tranny to the engine. Rule #1,,,,Never force anything into place. Maker sure the torque converter turns freely before you start to bolt the tranny to the engine. I made regular checks of the torque converter while I was in the process of torqueing the bolts between the tranny and engine. I could still turn the converter after the tranny was mated to the engine.

I am no tranny expert,,, but I am able to take instructions from someome that is. In turn I am able to get a job done.

Did you happen to check what the shipping would have cost you for you to send your tranny in? How much less would it have been if you didnt send a core?

Shipping was about $125.00 if I remember correctly. You will have to subtract the shipping from what ever you are going to get back for your core. Chris worked me a really good deal so in the end it really was not worth it to send in my old tranny.
