Installed new amp... weird volume control problem

I just installed a new amp (well, not necessarily new but new to the car). While I'm driving, the bass sounds pretty good and all the other speakers sound great. When I slow down, or come to a complete stop, the sound volume goes WAY down and the bass sort of goes away. Its sort of annoying when you have to turn up/down the volume depending on what speed you're at. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Nevermind... messed around with some options on the cd player and it fixed it. It's weird, the default settings work fine without an amp.
