Just got my new window felts and wondering how exactly to get them on. I know i have to remove the door panel and window, but is that it? How do you remove the door panel without breakign the clips? also, do any auto parts stores sell new clips fro the doors, as mine are kind of weak right now. any part #'s?

carefully

You don't need to remove the window. Lower interior door panel is held on with standard plastic screws which you pry out carefully so as not to tear the panel. Don't worry about breaking the screws - they are replaceable. Remove arm rest to reveal metal screws holding the upper interior door panel. After removing the upper door panel you will reveal the screws holding the felt in place. :)

...but you're going to need one of those small right angle screw drivers or some tool like it. Once you get into it, you'll notice that even with the window down all the way, it'll still block a few of the screw from straight on access. With the upper door panel removed, you can move the window a bit for some extra room, but you'll still need the right angle screw driver for access.

I did mine a few months ago, and yes it can be done without removing the window.

Do yourself a favor and remove the window.

The (exact duplicate) plastic retainers that hold the door trim to the door steel are available from AUVECO, but your friendly GM dealer may have a drawer full of them or something similar in his body shop, and HELP has them or something similar.

There's a special tool used to pry the retainers out of the door steel without damaging the trim. It's available in the special tools section of your local auto parts store for about $10 - looks like a weed puller.

:)

Great, thanks for all of the advice guys!! SO anyone happen to have an exact part number for the HELP section for the door pins? i just dont feel like running back and forth to the parts store when doing this
thanks again

You shouldn't have to remove the window. After you pull the trim panel off look on the bottom of the door towards the center and you will see the lower window stop. Loosen the bolt and the stop should drop down enableing you to lower the window another 1/4" to 1/2" so you can get to the screws that hold the felts on.

Removing the window is not necessary. But
the right angle screw driver or some such holigan
tool (cut a screwdriver bit in half and use it
with a 1/4" drive rachet) is required to do it.

Sorry for butting in on this with another question, but it does relate to the door trim panel assembly. The people on this post should be able to help.
Behind the window crank is a spring, does this go underneath the panel or on the outside? Which way does it go, small hole in or out? Its been apart too long, thank you all.
