im going to tackle porting my own intake...i know this topic has been hit soo many times but i am still unclear as to what to do about the EGR hump....for one i dont know what the EGR is....two i tihnk its for emissions and i do not have to worry about emissions so if it can go consider it gone....any info at all would be great...thanks...steve

PS: im also having trouble getting the intake off...see my other post...any tips would help....later, steve

Some remove it....but think about it.

The air us supposed to take a "Y" at that Hump. Instead of it hitting the flat rounded stock hump why not take a dremel tool, and form a point with the hump so now it acts as a smooth splitter for the air.

If done correctly that idea is that the air coming from the Turbo is evenly split, and less heat is being produced after hitting that rather aburpt EGR flat hump.

With the hump totally removed what is there to devide the air to the 2 side runners?

makes sense....what about the turbo opening....im guessing you leave that lip alone b/c thats where the turbo rests on?? and i read a few posts about the ports being to small to fit your finger in...well mine are plenty big to fit my finger in?? im just going to open it up to the gasket tho and angle the EGR hump and maybe the turbo inlet if anyone can talk me into it...thanks herb

i did 5 ports on my intake today before my friggin hand went numb:D.

i took them out to gasket size then removed as much as i could as far back as i could.

i'm thinking along the same lines as herb on the egr hump.my spearco adapter leaves something to be desired as well.i'll be fixing both.

good luck:).

The EGR hump is thin, remove it completly to the floor, them tack weld in a piece of 1/4 alum angle poited side up.It open the "Y" to huge compared to stock.

I removed my EGR hump. But in my case the air comes in more of an angle because my 3" elbow points toward the front of the intake and the intake is just a big open chamber now. If I had the turbo pointing straight down I would only angle the floor also. Good luck, there are some big gains just by a little porting.
