Hey guys,

As I up the HP in my car, I have come to the realization that I must either get rid of my A/C, or not have a front mount IC. Im a real sissy when it comes to heat, so I need my A/C. Anyone know of some other options for the intercoolers? My stock intercooler is very small, and is only good up to about 300hp. Im thinking maybe, a trunk mounted IC (huge), with fans mounted under it in the spare tire well. Or maybe a air/water intercooler. What do you guys think?

Go for what's available for your Dodge. And as for the IC in the trunk I don't think so, fresh cool air is the best. Is the stock IC in front of the condensor?

Air/water IC is going to be very expensive.

If your stock IC is good for 300HP thats alot for a 4 banger. Whats the stock hp/tq?

The stock intercooler is on the opposite side of the condensor. However if I do a front mounted IC, it will not be possible to run the lines. The stock hp, and torque is 175, and 175. I have a new turbo/engine coming, which will put me at about 350hp. My goal is 400hp. I need a lot of hp to put a fwd car into the 11's! argh! I actually heard the air/water IC is relatively cheap, but does not cool very well. The only option for an intercooler that is a direct drop in for the stock location, is the super60 intercooler, but it is poor for daily driving, it's a race only IC. :( One of you guys wanna take a look at my car next time at the track? Maybe help me with some ideas to fitting a FMIC in there? heh heh :D

Cale,

You might want to use an alcohol injection system. I know it's not a FMIC, but if none of the intercooler options works out, this is an option that can only help.

My recommendation to you for alcohol is because at 400hp with a 4 cylinder, you will not only need to cool the intake charge, but you will also need to increase octane points as well. Alcohol injection does both. Just an idea.:D

Yep, I was definately thinking about the alcohol injection. How many of your are running the SMC Kit? Wondering how well it works.
