what is the better intercooler for florida?cas v4 or a gn1 front mount?i have a ta 49 turbo,3"down pipe,50lb injectors,ported heads,and intake.i also plan on running alky.thanks

Front mount will always be superior in the long run, cause you have the maximum exposure of the IC. Tradeoffs are potential cooling system and A/C issues.

But, there are plenty running the stock location IC with great results. The questions should be, what are your goals, and can you get there without the FM?

Your $$ could be spent better elsewhere.....

forgot to mention,i have a walbro 340,hot wire kit and 50lb injectors.low 11's high 10's is what i am after

The larger stock location with alky will be all you will need for your goals & without cooling system problems.

I second that!

I got rid of my FMIC because it gets about 150 degrees down here in the summer. My trade off is alky & a PTE stock location stretch. No more overheating issues.:)

Looks like I'm in the same club as 87NAT.
PTE SL IC and soon to be Alky Control from Razor. Stock fan, but I did have to replace my stock radiator with an aluminum Griffin. Me being originally from MS, I can relate to heating issues in a hot summer climate. My other two cars had front mount intercoolers on them when I live in Miss. I did have the radiators recored with high efficiency 3 core cores, ran the stock fan on the limited with it's ESP FM IC, and dual spal fans on the PTE FM IC on the grey car. Both of them tended to run hot on those 100* 100% humidity summer days. (185-205* coolant temps) If you do not want to have to change anything (IE fan, radiator) then a stock location intercooler is the answer for hot climates. The only downside is the heat soak issue, but this is pretty much alleviated if you run an alky injection kit. If this were to be a track only car and not driven on the street much and no long trips, then a FM IC is the winner. There are ways to keep the temps down on FM IC equipped car in hot climates, but it will cost money. Aluminum rad, dual fans, RMI 25 additive, 160* t-stat (which pretty much every car should have) and boxing the area around and underneath the FM IC in with either sheet metal or rubber baffling.
Hope some of this helps.

A front mount is not needed to run in the 11's or high 10's with the right combo. You are pushing it anyway to run 10's with your combo. You would have to push the car to noman's land to do it with a 49. Go with the stock location IC and upgrade to an aluminum radiator from the f-body cars. The f-body radiator was one of the best upgrades I've done to my GN. It ways 14lbs less than the stock radiator also. KDK in Orlando did the swap on my car for around $350 out the door parts and labor. Doesn't take long either. I have a bigneck stock location on my car and it works great.
