Adding Spykiller to my computer seemed to fix the issues, and it has been running pretty good for quite a while now. Got the wife playing the Play Station games again, so she stays off the computer more. I will have to get a $499 Dell for her to play on or something to keep my stuff safer.
I DO have a router in line after the cable modem, splitting it to my main computer & to my laptop that I have for backup and UPS shipping. It should have worked like a firewall from what I remember, but never seemed to do much. I am inclined to believe I have a problem with the cable modem, never seemed right from day 1. Might try to swap it for a new one & see what happens.
Also, before I bought the Spykiller pgm, I test ran about all the free versions I could try out. Spykiller wasn't rated as good as some others, but found WAY more stuff on my computer than the others. As usual, the ratings don't always tell the story.
HUGE THANKS for all the help, suggestions, and input from all!!!!
Hoped this helped a few others with issues too! We all have issues, right?
PS- AOL is still WAY sssslllllllllooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwweeerrrrr than surfing with MS IE. got to ween myself off the AOL mail setup and switch over.
