I was thinking about getting one of Turbonetics ball bearing turbos and was wondering if it was worth it and what turbos you would suggest to get into mid 10's. ported stock intake, ported polished stock heads with bigger valves, 70mm throttle body and plenum, 65lb hr injectors, 3" thdp, 3400 stall, stock crank stock rods, 30 over trw forged pistons, rjc power plate, 210/215 roller cam with .516/.516 lift

Easily worth it in my mind! I went 11.0's with stock heads, cam, intake, pistons, ect. just by utilizing a big 70mm BB turbo. All done with a 3200 stall. Awesome on the street with smaller convertors as well.

For you a 70-72 BB p-trim would work nice.

What kind of boost were you running to get a 11.00?

Well the 11.0's was on about 25psi and a 75 shot of nitrous spinning a good 40-50'. With 25psi and no nitrous i ran 11.50's @ 118 mph with a pathetic 1.70 60'. With 27-28 psi and good 60', it could have gone low 11's. This was also at 4,500 DA.

I personally just like running smaller convertors, especially if you like to drive it around town. Had a 3800 stall in my old GN and hated it! It launched hard, but sucked in town.

With your 3400 stall you could run a 72 BB p-trim and make awesome power. 125+ mph on moderate boost....say 24-25 psi.

Im just finishing up putting mine back together. I added ported allum. GN1's, champion ported intake, 215/220 roller, forged pistons, crank and rods, main caps, ect. With my 70 BB p-trim im shooting for 10.40's @ 128+ mph off the nitrous. 9.80's on the nitrous. All with a small 3200 stall. And it will be super streetable.

I was thinking going with the BB CPT61 turbo from Cotton but I got a 2800 stall. You think it will be a pig (slow spool) on the street? I currently have a TE60 and its spools real fast.

That's where the BB is a plus -- on the launch. It will spool much faster that non-BB, so lag should be minimal, but talk to Jack to confirm.

I've got a 66 BB and a 2800-3000 stall, and it spools like crazy. But, I do also have a roller cam that helps. All from Cottons. You can't go wrong with your choice in parts or vendor. But like Night Train suggested, talk to Jack and he'll make sure your combo is good.

Consistently we see about 150-300rpms difference on the street. Not sure if it justifies the cost, but if your limited on stall and want to run a larger unit it maybe worth it.

Maybe this will help you. My 70 BB p-trim spools equivalent to my old PT-54 did. Same 3200 convertor. PT-54 is rated @ 620 HP, and the 70 is rated @ 850 HP. Quite a bit of potential gain there i would say. By no means am i saying you will gain 230 HP, but the potential is there. From switching from the 54 to the 70 i would guess i picked up 40-50 HP and 2-3 more mph at the same boost level.

Im guessing the biggest non BB turbo you would consider with your 3400 stall would be the 63 or maybe a 45A but thats pushin it! The 45A needs a tad more convertor.

If you have the $......go BB. You can accomplish mid 10s without the BB turbo but it will be quite a bit tougher. More boost, more tune, and a real good 60'.

I just got my CPT-66BB in this morning, I ordered it from Jack. He was very helpful, and gave me a discount from a special he had been running a few weeks prior were I got the HD wastegate thrown in the deal for free. Also I asked him to get the exhaust housing powder coated for me, that was $100 bucks extra but well worth it. I cannot wait to see how this hairdryer pulls, Jack you the man.....

I just hope you have some spare cash lying around, cause you're going to need tires.

Cool, Any pics of this turbo available? Would be cool to throw this into that dyno mix GM hightech did a few years back with 70 turbos.Anyone running one yet? Also,is there a rated horsepower available?
On another note my new turbo is a Dual Ball Bearing unit.

Jack what conv. do you need for the 66bb turbo? Thanks Phil.

Depends on how I build it, turbine wheel and exhaust housing, not to mention cam selection and a few other things. Anywhere from a 3200 to a 3600 will work.
