I had a T stolen a few years ago and tonight I bought a Carfax account to check on a truck I'm thinking about picking up and decided to see if anything had changed with the stolen car.

As of 10/12/2006, Carfax says a new owner is reported and the mileage has been updated.

I'm curious to see what happened to the car and possibly buy it back if it's even worth buying...

Here is a link to the original thread when it was stolen,

Did you ever find it? If not, it is still stolen property. Post up the full carfax report.

I settled with the insurance company, so the title was theirs. I would assume it was recovered, auctioned then retiled. Which would make it legit and not still stolen property.

I would like to know this also. I would like to find out who the original owner was for my car. I know where they bought it and know they traded it back in at the same dealer, and I have everything after that. Emailed the dealer a couple times and got nothing. If I lived near Nashville I would go in and pester them regularly.

I doubt that the DMV would release this info unless you knew someone on the inside.

Well he should be easy to track down then. Call the police station and ask for him.

I'm not 100% for sure but most places use the chief or sheriff name as the seller when they auction off vehicles from the impound yard. Why would they list his occupation in other words?

That's what I'm thinking, too.

There is an auction this weekend. I think I'll show up. I'll call the impound lot tomorrow and see if they'll tell me if the car is there with the VIN, but I doubt they will since I don't hold the title.

Hmmmmm I might have to go to this auction and see if i can't get myself a nice buick :p

Check out the VIN. Four of a kind. Another 14 Regals and it would have 444444. Just thought it was weird. I'm always on the lookout for low numbers. My 85 MCSS had the VIN 100048 which means it was the 48th Monte built in Arlington TX assuming it was built in sequence. I think the average assembly line kicks out 2 cars every minute so I've been told. Built in the first half hour of the first shift on the first day of the new model year. It was probally on a Monday which explains the poor build quality issues I had with it. I fixed every thing and than traded it for the 86 GN. I once found a 80 LeSabre in the boneyard with 400002. Was it the second one built? Door sticker had a build date 7/79. I've got the VIN tag stashed somewhere.

Keep us updated. That would be awesome if you could get it back.
