I've been running my 24 row stock location IC from mease for a few years now and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade. At the time when I bought the IC , it was tested in the GM high-tech magazine and in the article it said it was good up to 700HP. I believe that I am pretty close to that #. I want to know from you guys that upgraded from a good stock location IC to a front mount, how much HP you gained on a dyno or how much you improved on the 1/4 mile. I would also want to know your opinions on which Front Mount IC to buy to run in the mid 9s.
Thanks,
Marco

Buy a good front mount and sell me your Mease one is what you should do

Rjc for the for the front mount
I will read up on the RJC. I know he has two big front mount ones, but one he says is for race only. I just want to read if guys use his race one for the street and what their opions are. I don't want to keep on upgrading all the time. I know a lot of people seem to like cotton's front mount too.

Well, for sure the day that I will upgrade to a front mount, I will put the mease SL for sale. I will miss it, it has performed very well for me so far, from the first day I got it. The reason I never upgraded to a front mount is because I always found the mease SL to look great in the engine compartment compared to a front mount in the grill. The SL mease IC gives a much nicer, finished look in the engine compartment and since there isn't much piping the spool up is great.

Call Jason and see what he says. I'm in the market and will probably use the race on my street car. The race intercooler is mote intercooler then most will ever need. His smaller unit is more a high hp street unit as it to will be more then most will ever need

Thanks Boost231, I will keep on reading on more info on front mount intercoolers and when the time comes I will give him a call.

I have a power stroke on mine as it came on the car when I bought it. Don’t like the way the pipes have to run. So if I ever "upgrade" it will be to a RJC unit. Only thing that puzzles me about these big FMIC, is that a large portion is actually located behind the front bumper. Curious to know exactly how much air flow actually hits that portion on the FMIC.

One of the best things i bought for my engine. The only downside was the cost.

I bought my Kenne Bell big boy front mount intercooler 16 years ago and even though it is one of the smallest made. It has always worked great driving on the street in upper 90 degree temps in Fla and here in Oh. Being small helps with engine cooling temps since it doesn't block the air from getting to the radiator like the bigger units do. I have never had a cooling problem and use a single aftermarket fan with a Hayden temp controller with only one speed setting.

The Tony DeQuick front mount was my first choice but it was on back order at the time 16 years ago.

If i was going to buy a front mount intercooler today it would be the RJC unit for the street.

Thanks for your advice, I will look into it and compare and see if that is really what I want. Did you ever run your car with your set up?
Marco
All I can say is I had a SLIC with a Dutt neck and when I bolted this unit to it by butt dyno went from ran ok to WOW !!! , This was my missing link on my car , as you know all cars are different and your results may vary .
