I got the right rear end in my car now with the right gears. I cant tell if the convertor is locking up at all. i think it is, but it seems to lock and unlock. I just cant tell. when i had the speedo disonnected, I could tap the brake on the freeway, and the rpms would rise up. Now they dont move when i do the brake test....like it may be locking at highway speeds, and the brake switch just doesnt work..
Given im at 3000rpm from 45 all the way up to 80 tells me its not, but I dont know. Whats this sound like?
I did the paper clip thing with the aldl connector, and I was able to drive the car just like normal. I hear that if the convertor is forced to lock with that clip, the car would stall when I slow down, like a manual tranny would. Mine doesnt stall. It drives like it always does.

I don't have a solution, but maybe help clarifying.

When you do the paperclip, the lockup will happen in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. It will release when you press on the brake or when the car shifts to 1st gear. It will not stall when you stop. I have a switch (does the same as a paperclip) and when I forget and leave it on in general driving conditions, it will lock after the 1-2 shift and the engine will bog, car will surge back and forth. Either your lockup is toast, the ECM is not commanding lockup, or the wiring is disconnected.

Well I dont have that surge issue. What would cause the ECM to not command it?

if you install a switch could you just lock up in third (at the track), i read that locking up between shifts is hard on the converter ?
