is olds and buick 3.8v6 the same??

is the 3.8 v6 in 86/87 olds cutlass the 109 block? or did olds have there own version of this engine??
 
The 109 block is strictly a turbo block, the others are N/A 231 Buick blocks if the distributor is coming out of the front cover. Chevy made v6's but I think their distributor's in the back.
The 109 has the turbo oil return in the front of the block, and other differences.

what are these "other differences" the only thing i have ever heard is the provision of an oil return in the front of the block..
just want to know if the buick engine is in the olds cars as well...
 
In '86-'87, Buick and Olds both used the Buick V6. You need to find rear wheel drive only. As for the turbo oil return, it will have the boss at the front of the block if it's a 109.
 
The blocks are the same. You just have to drill and tap the oil return hole for the turbo.
