Is the 85 2004R the same as the 87

I have a 85 T Type I might part out and thought I might keep the Trans for a spare for my 87 GN since it was recently rebuilt. I've heard they are different...is this true?? If so, what's the difference??

They are essentially the same. The 87's had a larger servo and had hardened sunshells from the factory. There may be a few other internal differences such as plastic versus metal thrust washers etc, but they will be pretty insignificant, especially since it has been rebuilt.

Keep it, it will work fine.
