Howdy guys can you settle an argument ?

I say there is no such thing as an 87 T-Type whether it be v8 or v6 this kid is arguing with me that there is an 87 TType I say no its a REgal with the T package and the TTYPE ended in 1986
he said its in some Buick Muscle car book there is a " TType Special T " in 1987

I think you are right but people still call them T Types anyway. My brother had an 87 T with the Olds V8,grey leather, digital dash, T wheels and it was black too. Real clean.
As far as the books go I would assume they would call them all the common names just to be sure that people know they are talking of the same car, or something along those lines.
I think GN/TType.org has more on this.

I'm pretty sure in 1987, the proper designation for a Turbo'd Regal that was not a GN was "Turbo T".

its all just a name. the T package, was avaliable for any regal. it could have a v8, i'm not exactly sure what all it came with, i know t emblems on the side and on the steering wheel, it might have came with more. the turbo v6 was a seperate option from what i understand (lc2 on the rpo sticker)

t-types were ?-86 all t-types were turbos, i'm not too sure what the pre 84 ones were, i know they had grand nationals and t-types before 84, but i'm not sure how they decided what was what. so if its a t-type it is a turbo v6. if someone has an 87 regal with a turbo, and its not a grand national, they still call them t-types even though its technically not.

I usually call mine a t-type just because people don't know what a turbo t is. theres a lot of times i call mine a grand national too, thats the only way some people will go OH! insted of HAHAHA! when i tell them its a v6.

He has a v8 one I told him its not a TTYPE that TTYPES ended in 86 he says I am wrong

Is there any link that shows this online anyplace? Only thing I found so far was on GNttype and it doesnt show other then TURBO T and since his is a V8 he will say its a TType since its a v8 (I still say he is wrong)

Can't think of where it is on-line but if you'll show it to him in Kirbans book, that'll shut him up.

If you want to get really anal about it, there's no "Turbo T" either! That's just a nickname, like "hotair"

To the best of my knowledge, you will not find the word "type" following (OR the word "Turbo" preceeding) the T on ANY 1987 turbo regal vehicle, emblem, or advertising literature. Therefore, in my opinion (big deal), there were no T-Types nor Turbo-T's. Just plain T's by virtue of the "T" package everyone mentions.

It might be that there was a Riviera or Century T-Type in '87, but that I don't know...

No Regal T-Types after 1986, although they are the same only different.  Tell him to show you on his car where it says T-Type. ;)

I sent him the previous search - I should've done a search first -

Did some more digging besides Kirban's book, I found the 1987 Buick Buyers Guide from the dealer, I rested my case with him with that - there was only a Regal with a T package available
of course there will be no bet (hell I was betting my truck, $1000 and a GN rear since I knew I was right )
