Posed the same basic question yesterday, but here is how the final deal shakes out.

My mint '87 GN 27K miles, with upgraded turbo, IC and all related pieces.

99 Camaro SS 12K miles - in mint/brand new condition, not a scratch anywhere. T-tops, 6-speed, etc. Has about 2K in upgrades.

Plus complete NOS 1LE suspension - not installed.

$500.00 cash

He pays shipping the car to me.

Is this a fair deal????? I like the SS and am ready for a change to a manual car again, but don't want to make a bad move.

Its your call man,,,but after the inital euphoria wears off you will be a sad MF:eek:

I have sold 3 GNs all low mile and bought a Camaro SS after 1 and a 5.0 GT and after about 2 weeks with each one I was miserable.

Thats why I have a TTA again :D

Learned my lesson and not looking back:D

its a good deal now....but the gn will only go up in value with those miles, the ss, not as much.......i had a 98 trans am 6-speed and it was nowhere near the car my gn is, wouldnt trade it for anything.....

no

how many 98 TA's are there vs GN's??????????????????

You can thank me later

i seriosuly doubt if a 98 T/A will ever draw as much as an 87 gn with low miles....

You are right, but what nags at me a little is that keeping the car low in mileage means less enjoyment.

The SS will depreciate, but would allow me to enjoy the car without too much worry.

low in mileage means less enjoyment.

then drive it........if you want to keep the miles down then enjoy it by looking at it. I bought mine with 16K original owner miles and now have 27,xxx on it. I drive it and don't care about putting miles on it because I take care of it, I don't mod it out crazy like and I don't beat it. My car will be "worth" as much today as when the day comes that I sell it. NO 98 SS can say that. It's not an even trade no matter how you slice and I feel you would regret the move moments after doing it. Good luck

You state that it is a 99 while the replies say it is a 98. If it is a 98 stay away they had some oiling issues. The LS1 people in Phoenix shun the 98.

My brothers 97 SS convertible sits right next to my GN. His SS looks beautiful and only has 39,000 miles on it. My GN has nicks, and small scratches, A & B pillars are cracked, it has 208,000 miles on it, original interior. Every time someone comes to the house they say "Wow, you have a GN" that thing looks cool. They don't even glance at the SS.

He paid $22k for his 97 SS in 98 (book was 32k). I paid $5k for my GN. Right now I'd say my GN would bring more money than his SS.

Have your cake n' eat it too

Keep the GN, in 2 years get an f-body, their prices aren't holding..
