Is this a real Monte Carlo SS 200 4r transmission ?

Seller told me it already has a couple mounting ears (upper left & right side of face plate) 1.5 din should fit the Regal. So do I need to mount the old brackets to this unit to install in same location as the OEM AM FM Cassette?

Radio mounting ears that come with that radio should allow you to secure radio . I can't see the rear of radio but some 1.5 din the back of radio tapper off in back. Looks as if you need a radio bezel as well. There are some aftermarket bezel that comes with a bottom support for radio. What did that radio come out of, looks like a 92 to 95 model.

Had one just like it in the 97 chevy truck only with cassette. I liked it, decent sound with 6 speakers with good controls and not too gawdy. Would like to see what it looks like in a GN.

To get a radio CD like that one pictured in a 97 Pickup, that would have had to be a Silverado Z71 or some type of plush pickup , most economy pickup came with cassette like you mentioned. I have seen a radio similar to that one in a GN ,but it was cassette as well.

Wasn't all decked out but back then they were still a 1500 and was with the silverado trim. You could get either cassette or CD or pay bit more and that little space below the stereo was fit with a CD or cassette so you had both. Those were pretty nice interiors but they really cheapened them up when they redesigned them(GMT-800). But then you could get both in the same unit.

The guy I bought it from has parted out a few 2 & 4 door 1992-95 (and later) Blazers, Jimmies & Bravadas. I don't know if he knew what it came out of. I'm still waiting for delivery - any day now. Maybe its coming by pony express?

I was hoping it would just need the old brackets I kept from the OEM AM FM Cassette. The old radio is sold and needed service anyway so I can't reinstall it. I might have jumped the gun when I peddled it.

I thought there was a discussion on the board here that walked thru this unit install. Can't find it. I think this & similar 1.5 din radios also came in some of the Cavaliers or Pontiacs and maybe a few other GM vehicles of the times.

You are referring to Jay Frick in the Pittsburgh area. I just had a flashback, I order numerous of times from Jay's GN in the late 90's. Last I heard he was having surgery probably 9 or 10 years ago. Jay was truly an ambassador for the Turbo Buick.

Yes, He past away some time ago I think in 2012.
Radio came with plug and play setup just plug into old sockets

Tracking info for my radio says its out for delivery!??! I kind of lost my anticipation along the way - but we'll see today I hope.

Hope you remember - Did the brackets or unit case have to be modified?

On another note: I did meet Jay at a Kirban Reunion years ago. He had good parts. That year he had some of the long upper dash panel (that always warps) in Med Dark Gray rather than the usual blue plastic you paint to match versions. I think I bought one for the white T I had at the time.

Funny what you remember. Sorry to hear he passed away.

Modified the Brackets or make up some
I had spare brackets so I cut them
I met him at Kirban's also years ago He was one of the few who would help me with my 84GN before I went Intercooled.
Hard to believe I've had this car since 1999

I got a set of rusty old brackets. I can clean them up and figure out how to modify them. Hopefully. Was it just an extra hole needed or what?

I remember Jay taking a number of questions about hot air cars. He talked like 'These are quick cars too and can be made quicker.' Which always struck me right-on.

My first interest in these cars started before the 'intercooled' cars too. I was traipsing around to dealers looking at the 83 and up turbo Regals. Then my son was born and he went with me on my shoulders/back, in a carrier, and finally under his own power for quite a few years before I actually bought a 30K mile White T in 2004. Sheesh - time flies.
