I'd say it was real. Some birds are just feathered audio recorders. My wife babysits her friends "African Grey" and it immitates the phones, alarm clocks, stove alarms it hears perfectly. Cant tell you the number of times I've answered the phone to hear a dial tone. When it hears the alarm in the morning it calls my wifes name and in a perfect immitation of it's owners voice it says "Rachael, time to wake up", it's creepy. In my wife's voice it says to my wofe's bird "Aruba hush up". I have a blue front amazon who has had multiple owners and he has multiple voices. Sings opera beautifully. Always has to be louder than the TV. Cries and does the aftersobs of a small child perfectly. If he can hear me but not see me he screams "help, help, help" in that smallchilds voice to the concern of neighbors or people walking by on the street, then he does the aftersobs. He also screams "shut up" at my wifes bird. Birds are like owning a two year old forever.
