OK, I get the car, seems like it's been forever ago and everytime I turn around I run into somthing else. So the shifter was wrong when I bought the car, the trans is a 2004r, wrong one but it is what it is. The lockup plug is disconnected.

Anyhow, got the shifter, console and a TON of other stuff from a well respected person on this board, he has been a huge help in getting this back together. I also bought the in-lay kit from Kirban's as well as the console shift indicator. Look at the following picture. A couple of issues, one - No where to stick the sticker and two - Looks like the sticker is for a overdrive trans and my shifter/console is 1st, 2nd, drive, N, Reverse, and park. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Thanks,

Rich

Shifter Trim Plate

It looks like you are missing the plastic window in the plate that you place the decal on.you would probally have to make one or get another trim plate.

So it's a clear plastic plate, glued to the pot metal? The biggest issue is that the holes and the numbers do not line up:confused:

Thanks,

Rich

It looks like your console plate (the part with the holes) is from a non OD car.

I count holes for P R N D 2 1

That part should be attached with screws and can be replaced without replacing the console

So this will not work with a 2004r trans? The shifter matches the console. On a 2004r there's 1st, 2nd, D, OD, N, R and Park? OD allows the lockup function:confused:

Just when I thought I had this figured out.

Thanks,

Rich

I'm not sure if it will work or not. I don't the shifter detents will match up with the gear selector on the transmission.

The shifter has nothing to do with converter lockup. It's handled entirely by the ECM commanding lockup. The switches that tell the ECM what gear the transmission is in are internal, not a part of the shifter.
