Okay, Im making more power than ever running straight methanol. I am having zero to no more than 2 degrees of KR at the topend with 23 psi boost. O2s throughout the run are anywhere from 824 to 860. If I could lean that out some I could really get moving. Only problem is I am having problems at the beginning of the run. 26 degrees of KR at 13 mph with 5 psi boost and 832 O2s. I have to let off the pedal because of the obnoxious audible KR sensor going crazy. This is rediculous, I used to just tune for no KR at the topend (higher mph). Now Im there, really making some power, but I have to get off the pedal because of KR at low mph  .
Can this have anything to do with the Methanol Im injecting? I never had O2s that high before with this type of boost, until using straight methanol. Is it possible to get KR from running too rich?
Need suggestions on how to proceed..........please.
Thanks guys/gals.

Is this "rich knock" ? Or is rich knock just a myth? If not, maybe I should turn down the fuel pressure? Or gap the plugs tighter? Should I have the alky come in later than it is now? (15~psi)

FP is at 43psi. Plugs are NGK UR5's @ .032. Alky is shooting through NOS fan spray nozzle currently with .040 jet.

METHANOL Qs? SEE RUDYsRED

RudysRed can handle this prob...he was twice voted "Methanol Man of the Year" for the Western Hemisphere & adjacent suburbs.

Seriously, he IS the Methanol MacDaddy.

:)

There's no doubt in my mind you have to lower the turn on point. Try it at 10*s. You're knocking before the methanol gets to the combustion chambers. Also, I notice your using a .040 jet. I use a .032. If you use a smaller jet, your 02s should come down. Another thing you can try is start adding some water to your mix.

Thanks John. I hope your right, I will try that. That would be the easiest fix. Hopefully wont cause bog (need a PAC?). Other thing I thought of is if I should try a different chip. Im using a JL 20 degree street chip. I also have a Thrasher street chip (I dont know what timing they are, but I thought Ive heard others say they are real low timing), and a Casper's 8position thumbwheel chip that has a 18 degree semi-performance setting. Maybe I need less timing. Any thoughts on that?

Rich knock occurs from the motor bucking from getting flooded. Or transitional from having too high a turnon point.

Your O2's need to be lower, and your turnon needs to be usually 4 PSI before the motor knocks on pump gas. That gives the alky time to catch up and reach your cylinders..spool time/turbo/converter all change this number. My car comes on a 4 PSI.

That big jet is unhappy at a low turnon...too much and your topend O2's are in question. You are not making power until you get that down into the 770 land..830's..turn down pump pressure or drop the nozzle size..or get better control over the spray ;)

Bet your EGT's at best are 1400's.

Get a direct scan recording of the run and look at yur o2's..if theyre in the 900's..that ought to be a tip off.

I would consider Julio's PAC. I love mine!! The alky starts spraying nice and early, at about 6 or 7 lbs. (obviously low pump speed) no bog AT ALL. Nice and smooth all the way up to 25lbs. (still have more left, this is just a nice streetable setting) also no jet changes, just turn the dial to control ramp up speed!!

John, you were right. Lowered the turn on point and the problem went away :) .

Thanks for the tips guys, everything you said makes sense. Also, I really like the idea of your PAC Julio. Got your email awhile back with some info but I think that was for just the regular pump contoller. If you could, Id like some more info on the PAC (including price). I already have a 3bar MAP sensor that Im using for TLink.
