i just got my car back last night from getting the valve springs done, and the timing chain and i got on the car this morning and the friggin' thing still does essentially the same thing it did before i got the springs done. granted it will shift better under part throttle, but when i got on it from the light this morning it sounded like it bounced off of the limiter three times before i HAD to lift for it to shift....do i just need to get another trans or rebuild this one....i am trying to get this brick ready to race this spring, help me out guys...
i changed the fluid during the fall sometime and it's still bloody, what could be wrong with this thing...why does it shift fine under light throttle to mid throttle and then at WOT it sounds like my engine is going to blow up?

god this is frustrating, but the car does pull like a mule now on the highway and it doesn't want to stop either...i have found that i run out of road really quick now....

Which shift kit after last rebuild?

I noticed your signature states that the car has 200k+ miles on it. This means your trans has been rebuilt at least once. When they did the rebuild, which brand of shift kit did they install?

i doubt that it's been touched...the springs were stock, the front seal was stock, the timing chain was stock, EVERYTHING WAS STOCK....which is good....well now that you mention it, i guess i can't expect to much....

Intercooler has a great tranny for sale in the parts for sale section? If I had the $$ I'd buy it!

yeah...i know...i have been meaning to get up to bweavy and intercoolers way and check them out...i have a tranny back in north carolina that i can go and get, but i am being lazy...i am supposed to fly back to north carolina for recruitment for lockheed martin....i wonder if they would allow me to put a tranny on the plane in the seat next to me....hmmmmmm....

lol...:D

can anybody tell me what the problem might be, or is the tranny just tired....

I would.....

Drop pan and pull govenor. Add a set screw to pin spring so it cannot fly out. If it does what you want you are done. If not pull gov again and add .5 to a gram of weight to secondary weight. Usually a small spot weld from a mig works well. I have seen in High milage cars the weight actually "stretch" and weight requires more force to move. Also , a stronger spring could be installed in the sec weight but now you are back to square one with the weight. I would try the set screw thing first. If you would like , send to me , and I will return for nothing more than the freight back. I can do it in one day in about 5 minutes, if you feel uncomfortable doing it. If not for detailed instructions, e mail me or call which I prefer and I will set you in motion to try to cure. It will maybe take once or twice and a report back so I know that we are on the right track. I am willing if you are...:)

nah...don't worry about it, thanks for the offer though...i really appreciate it, i wish i was closer to you i would just come out to your shop.....but the fluid is clean, i dropped the pan the last time i changed the fluid ( 2 months ) and no metal shavings, fluid was blood red coming out...i changed the filter, and got the old ring out...we pulled the governor out and the spring was still there.....andy lahoski, who is the local 200 guru told me that he would check it out for me, he said that there may be another spring that could have broken ( not in the gov. somewhere else, i forget ), but he said that he would check it out and put a shift kit in also if the spring that he was talking about was broken...he was waaaaaaaayyyy above my head talking to me today about trannies....i just want the damn thing to shift good and hard like it's supposed to so i can run this spring....you know, i have had two turbo regals and both of them never shifted right...i have never had a car with a working tranny, isn't that something.....do you have one for sale for a good price?, it doesn't have to be special, just need it to work....mike mccoy has one for me, but i don't know what shape it's in and don't want to get it installed and it is worse than what i had in before....would you do that, just stick another tranny in that you don't know much about?

No, no I wouldn't

You are on the right path.....

But try what I said. You asked me what to try. Try it. What do you really have to lose at this point? A little time? Let us know how you make out. :)
