I have a 97 jeep grand cherokkee and I need to set the throttle valve cable. The bracket/adjuster is different than the one on my GN it does not look like a rachet type. Has anyone set this one. The jeep is a 97 Grand cherokkee 6 cylinder Transmission is a 42re.
Thank You
Sal

If it's like mine, there is a button on the bracket that you push in to release the cable sleeve. Hold the button in, and the sleeve is free to slide in and out. Not sure what the proper adjustment measurement is though. I adjusted mine (93 Grand Cherokee, V8) a hair tighter to slightly firm the shifts. A little goes a long way.....

Thanks for the reply. I found out how. The jeeps are diferent from our GNs. First there is no rachet only a locking tab which when removed allows the cable to slide. Second you adjust the cable at idle. Basically pull tab up and out the slide cable out until it is center with the linkage ball lastly put tab back in.

Yep. Remove the white tab and center the cable end over the ball and that's it. If you want firmer or softer you can play with it a little but it shouldn't need anything.
