Don't get me wrong. I grateful for all those who served, and happy she is alive, but what did she do that deserves at least 5 mins of media attention on the news every-night? It's not here fault, but the medias...

Why aren't we still hearing about those that were killed in that raid? I mean one of the men were from nearby Mobile and that local news station hardly mentioned him.

Is it because she's a woman? I don't think that is true because the black women who was in the same situation isn't in the news anymore.

I'd rather they spend those 5 mins thanking all vets especially those Vietnam vets who got spat on..

James

Yeah, have to agree with you, it's a little over the top. No problem with her hometown welcoming her back and all but enough is enough. At least she is alive, feel more sorry for the guys and gals still over there and unfortunately the many who won't be coming back alive.

I, for one, was haunted by the images of all the POW's when they were taken. To see her get home safe is like a shot in the arm. I understand many gave alot more than she, but I think its good for the US to see her on TV and have something to celebrate for a change.

Just MHO

BT;)

When the 2 Apache pilots were shot down and then found and sent back to the U.S, they got more coverage than Jessica. Jessica's comrades , remember, got tons of coverage when they landed in the U.S. and their hometown.....Since one of the chopper pilots lives here in Atlanta , we still see him in local parades and TV coverage....But I think all got about equal time ,give or take a week or so :D ....I can relate to their situation , when I got back from Vietnam, I had to borrow a dollar to call my parents to pick me up at 12pm mid-night and eat a Hot Dog (starving) at the Airport lounge at night and some people at the airport told me I should be ashamed of myself  I'm glad the TV coverage is doing this , I was her age when I got back and she seems happy to be among friends and family . I was injured in my leg and I used a cane for a few months , but some told me I deserved it  Oh well , I'm a Veteran so excuse my HOOH RAA to the troops !!!!!

Sorry :) Alan

The treatment you received when you came home was outrageous. I was in the Navy in the late 60s and was lucky not to have anyone give me a hard time. I was pretty oblivious to it. I guess the BS started happening in the 70s. The same people are out there today and are constantly critizising the Bush administration. They'd like to critizise the armed forces but they're afraid because of all the support they are getting and always deserved. They profess to support the troops but I don't believe it for a minute. I'm happy to see Jessica come home but I don't pay much attention to it. I really haven't noticed that much coverage and Fox news is on my TV 99% of the time.

Just an opinion

I think a little publicity and news coverage is acceptable to a point. Over doing it is another! Let's not forget those who are still over there risking their lives on a daily basis. May god be with them as I pray everynight they do come home to their family's and loved ones just as I did.

As for all you Turbo Buick Vetrans, I take my hat off to you all. You are the real hero's in my eyes due to the fact todays Military, technology and tatics would not be so powerful if you hadn't fought other wars first.

Regards,

Ray
