i just bought a progressive smc kit. it has a square bottle with the pump in the bottle. my questions are.

do i need to change my chip. i am running a 93 street chip right n

what iis the best way to set the controller. how do i figure what speed i should run it at.

i bought this stuff called methyl alcohol is it ok to run. should i mix 50/50

if anyone could help me out with this that would be great

I'll help with what I can...yes, you need a new chip. Recommend contacting TurboTweak. I've got mine set to come on at 12, max at 20. Will probably depend on your setup and how much boost you're running. If it bogs the engine down, you're probably starting it too low. I'm not sure what methyl alcohol is. Most seem to run either denatured alcohol or methanol.
 
i have to admit the TT alky chip make it somuch easier , but if you have a TT 93 street chip there is no reason to ditch your chip so long as its burned for your turbo and injectors it can be tweaked to run fine with alky. the 5.6 chip is even better than the older 5.2-5.5 with its 1st gear fuel adjust which is great when tuning alky
the overall fueling in the 93 chip (17psi) will be almost the same as the alky chip (labeled 23-25) , the 93 will have less timing @ 19*/17* vs 23/20 for alky , but many have done well without the higher timing.

ive gotten a freinds car to run 11.2 with a TA49 /razor alky on a TT 93 street chip . chip burned for 50#msd's with some WOT fuel added ,timing at base, at only 19psi

for a first timer to alky if your current 93 chip works and runs well at 15-17 psi i would leave the street chip in there with the lower timing ==get your boost and alky settings to where your o2s are good zero KR , with smc that should be around 23 , once thats good if you can raise timing (tt chip , translator+ or gen 2) try adding a few * while watching for KR.

if your future plans are to change injectors youll need a new chip , then its a good time to go for the TT alky

for SMC square
set the controller to turn on about 12psi
set gain near full (you can lean out if needed but try keep o2 over 800 for street)
be sure to use a cap of the kotz lube with whatever you mix ,

heres a full rundown

the car is a nearly full weight 87 GN ttop (driver neeeds to lose a little too!) i think besides rims and removal of front sway alum frt support , its as it was shipped in 87 ,full option car,
was a .30over stock rebuild , after lifting heads went with a set of used big valve ported irons ( port was an ametuer job then reported by Jbanning ) cometics .060 , arp bolts , stock bottom end, TA 49 .82 exhuast housing from my 49, stock tb- plenum w/power plate, 50# inj (from my car) , stock maf w/K&N PTE FMIC intercooler ,mease 3" DP , HD wastegate, stock headers ,huffman elec cutout (no cat)

removed front sway , rebuilt 200-4r billet drum no brake (mikes auto atco), 9.5 protorque 32-3400LU (runs were unlocked),razor alky single , stock posi , moser 28 axles w/c-clip elim TA cover, hr rear bar , southside relocate lowers
mickey 275/60-15 radials on centerline warriors
nothing really trick

ran 11.25 and 11.24 at 116+ at etown , doesnt have a bar so he got the boot

60 was 1.57 footbraking


car has since went to andersons perf for a club dyno day and put 378hp on his dyno 19psi before bill A upped it to 23psi and 398hp , i know numbers seem low but thats what his dyno shows
just waiting for him to bring it back to the track when it cools a little to see if he can get a 10 slip

yours SMC is "progressive" and is a totally different system than the older SMC intank kits im used to seeing ,

for operation i'd try to get a set of instructions straight from steve

it was decieving because of the boost levels and didnt say you had ported irons thats all. i about sh#t my pants when i saw that i knew that there was alot more behind it.
 
where do i get the kotz lube


Steve at SMC can get you the Uplon Klotz lube or you may be able to find it at a local carting shop as they use it. Try a google search on "Uplon Klotz" and see what comes up....
