Give me some details on unit. I have a Kerosene heater for my 3 season sun-room and it works very well. Cheap and only smells at first start up and shut-off. I do not want to go with gas as it is expensive to run and install. ;)

My unit is Reddy heat torpedo 30k btu brand from Home Cheapo.

You really can't use it in enclosed area without venting.
I will run it 10 mins tops without cracking the garage door open.

If I have to run it longer then the door must open 1 inch to vent.
The temp does settle back down to 47/50 range after an hour.

The bullet heaters work great. I have one and it heats the garage great. I do wish I would've gotten one that has a thermostat.

Later,

Steve.

I looked at one at Lowe's the other day, like $139.00. I use to run a Kerosene torpedo but the smell would kill you without a door or window open. I am surprised to hear you say the Propane also smells

It smells just like YE OLD gas grille minus the hambergers.

I bought mine at end of season when they tried clearing them out. I paid $89 for it

From experience with my propane heater...

The CHEAP propane stinks..

Expensive tanks I've bought have had no smell.

May want to shop around...

When i did my new addition with garage, We put the boiler in the garage for the house, House temp is 70, Garage maintains a florida like 80 just because the boiler is in there.

I have an OLD AMERICAN STANDARD boiler.
These baby's are built tough & too last but not effecient because back in 1965 gas was CHEAP!
Unfortunatly it is in the basement & maintains a florida like 80 down there.

As Mark H mentioned

Northern COLD VS southern HUMIDITY

I would have to say i would be weary of HUMIDITY doing
more damage to metal parts.

The COLD can dry out rubber parts.

Both are a lose lose situation.
