I posted earlier about concerns with pressure readings, and new things have developed.

Is this trans going to need to come back out after only being driven a week, maybe 50 mi's? :frown:

I drove to the video store tonight and noticed after it shifted into 3rd, I let off the gas
doing about 45mph, rpm's come down to about 1200, and as I'm cruising/coasting the
car starts 'bucking' softly and intermitent, like I'm tapping on the brakes.

I got home and checked the pressures again:

1000rpm PSI min TV ........... max TV
Park................. 75 ............... 215
Rev ............... 125 ............... 150
Neu ................ 75 ................ 215
D4 .................. 75 ............... 175
D3 .................. 75 ............... 175
D2 ................ 150 ............... 175
D1 ................ 125 ............... 150

These are much lower than earlier in the week, especially reverse at max TV!

Last week. . .
------------ Min T.V. -------- Max T.V.
1000rpm

Park ...............90...................215
Rev ..............130...................275
Neu ................90..................215
D4 ..................90..................215
D3 ..................90..................215
D2 ................170..................215
D1 ................150..................200

I need some suggestions, guys! Where should I go from here?

Is the converter locked up while coasting at 1200 rpm? If so this is probably what you are feeling. Try turning the lockup off and see if it still does it. I have a cut off toggle switch on my dash which makes it easy.

I too had a few issues when I built my trans and my problems were with low pressures as well. It turned out the pump I was using was leaking internally somewhere, either due to the use of a 13 vane rotor kit or porous casting or something. My fix was to get a bone stock 7 vane pump that had little to no wear inside, enlarge the required orifices and put in hardened rings. Everything worked great after that. The alternative to using the stock pump was to get a ck pump or pts pump where everything has been machined properly and clearance properly.
