My 1987 GN has this option, paid $18.00 for it in 1987. Have never used it. Does anyone know how it works. Thinking of taking it off and giving to someone above the Mason/Dixon line. Which I think is about three miles north of Charlotte NC. LOL. No really someone could get use out of it .But would like to know how it works before taking it off. Thanks

Keep it if it's truely a 12K mile car.

Unless the RPO codes are off the trunk for some reason or you don't have the window sticker etc.

I could have used it this week and definately tonite for sure. :cold::cold::cold:

Don't kill some of the value of your car selling it or giving it away.

Yes, 12,167 miles. The RPO looks the same as in 09/87 when I got the car. Want to know HOW it works.

should be a 3 prong ac plug under the hood somewhere. Find an outlet, plug it in.

Yes the plug is right beside the pass. Side Rad.. Plug it up, but how is it heating up the block and or the oil?

It's a heating element stuck in the water jacket through a modified freeze plug as an example

I'm surprised it has been in there that long and not started leaking.

I've got them in my other cars, but not my GN. Installed them myself. Just knock out a freeze plug and install. Messy job. Got my winter car plugged in right now since I have to go to work at 1:30am and it's near 0'F.

Just running out and plugging it in on a cold night, won't do much. It really helps if you plug it in when the engine is already hot. On a 0'F night with no wind,my 3300 (sort of like a 3.8) will be about 80'F after 10hrs or so.

I have trouble with the Kats brand of these heaters, which I believe that is a picture of. That looks exactly like mine. The Kats brand sort of half burns-out and don't get as hot after a while.

There usually isn't a long cord from these heaters. You need to use and extension cord to plug it in. The shorter the better.
