I saw about TC dying and was wondering how Big was taking it, guess not well... :(

Big Daddy was one of my heros growing up . I like winners. Winners win!

Don has been the spokesperson for zddplus for several years sad to hear this news....

I remember being at his place two years ago with him.....super nice guy. His list of records is impressive.....

He recently turned 80 years old...

Thats a shame...one of Mr. Garlits and my close friends Paul Vanderley passed a few years back. Hope he hangs in there...The storys I have heard from back in the day...wow! God speed on hs recovery

I hope I am as motivated as him when I am 80.Truly old school.

Hope things go well for Don and his wife Pat. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

I'll never forget when I was a kid and Don "Big Daddy" Garlits used to travel all over the US and Canada, going from track to track and one day, he came to my local track (Napierville) and gave quite an impressive display of performance and everyone knew why he was called "Big Daddy". I'm not sure, but I think he ran several runs in the 7's  which at the time, was the track's new record which remained there until the next time he'd be back! Also aside from being the quickest, he was a gentleman, always took some time to talk with the fans, give out some pictures and autographing them too!
He was (and to me, will always be) "The King of Drag Racing".
Here are two pictures taken back then...

Claude.
