Hi guys, my car breaks mounts on hard launch. I was thinking that the trans needs to be raised, be cause the car was lowered when i got it. Can the drive shaft be binding causing the mounts to break? Also will that cause the trans to go out quick, because ive been in this trans at least 6times!!!

two new engine mounts, they are good. When i launch the car it drops the back end at least 7inchs. I heard pinion angle may cause this, anyone know how to check, and set this??

car

i think its droping too much then. that means the pinion is going to far up.

7"?? I doubt you have 7" total travel on the shocks @ installed dimensions...
Pinion angle won't make it squat. Messed up suspension will. Sounds like shocks, incorrect I/C setting, bad bushings, could be the cause.

Is it possiable the driveshaft is to long?I would think you would see some tail bushing problems though.I know that when the car squats the driveshaft goes into the trans more.Or maybe very bad body/frame flex.

Could be..

Like Mike says.. D/S too long, and gets jammed into the trans, and jacks it up, resulting in the mounts being torn apart.
Have you changed the D/S??
Have you checked the slip dimension, w/ the suspension loaded? [Should have somewhere near 3/4".]
Also, the T/S bushing may be galled, and not allowing the shaft to slip freely.

Find some hands-on professional help.

Anyone in your area that sets up chassis's?
If so you need to become their next customer.
By the time you get things worked out, your expense will be greater than locating a shop that will help you. Good Luck.

I've passed over looking at this thread for awhile now, and just couldn't resist this time.

Is the car still lowered or has it been put back to stock height?

As already stated pinion angle has nothing to do with the car squatting. You need to change the mounting position of the control arms (effectively shorten or lengthen them) to stop the squat. Raise the upper (preferred) or lower the lowers. Thats the only way to get rid of the squat. You are changing the instant center of gravity when doing so.

U-joint angles been checked?

I've seen bad u-joint angles setup driveline vibration that was enough to take out mounts, loosen extension, transfer case and bellhousing bolts, and shatter transfer cases and extension housings.

It doesn't only have to be an extreme angle to have this happen. It can easily be caused by unequal opposing angles, even under 4 degrees.

Thx for all the replys. I installed a new mount, then raise the tail of the trans 2inch by way of spacers, now the car spins a good bit, it never spin b4, so i think it was binding, i may need better tires.

Huh???

If the trans was in it's original location, there's no way that raising it 2" is going to be a proper "fix".
Has this car been in a total wreck?
Has the x member or mount location been changed at some time?
Do you have the OEM rubber mounts @ the frame end of the x member?
Something wrong w/ this story.....
