Knock gauge?

Where do you guys find the knock gauges you are using and how effective are they at detecting detonation?

Our cars come with knock sensors. The gauge just displays what it's telling the ECM.

Caspers audible for racing.

If you hear it let out immediately.

Hard to watch the visual ones unless they are right in your face.

That's just the lighted one. Need that one too. :)

Three wire installation no sensor to install.

Works off the stock ecm and stock knock sensor.

Both types of gauges audible and visual Caspers ones wire the same way to the same place.

Connects to power and ground and the yellow/black wire on the ecm in the passenger side footwell.

Love my Casper's.....

It was one of my first purchases.
VERY sensitive, too!
The first green light on the gauge said .9 degrees of retard on the Scanmaster.

You don't need any senders or sensors (on an '87 that is).
Just one wire to the ECM, a hot and a ground.
VERY easy install!!

This man speaks the truth;)

This is assuming Buick Turbo Tech. only.

If not this thread shouldn't be here. ;)

I assume you are buying or own a TR?

i've put one in a mustang before. get a gm knock sensor and casper's kit. in the driver side of the block pull out a coolant plug and screw it in there. that way it'll pick up both banks. if you want, put another in the pass side and run the wires together.

Don't double assume. Read his USER ID and signature. :p

I listed them above. Sensor, controller and the gauge(s). It will function without the Buick ECM. Go look at the Caspers webpage and part# I listed. Not too cheap once your done, but worth it, IMO.

I always assume. ;)

Buick Turbo tech. only...... should have been dumped into the lounge a day ago.

At least that's what the old rules were.

Maybe if I mention Terry Houston it will disappear?

Ok, what about using an EGT meter on the header tube? Would that be as accurate or helpful(my stang detonates like a sledgehammer hitting the block!) for sensing detonation or lean tunes?
