I race with a friend who has a 99 Buick Regal GS. He has a question about knock retard. Sometimes when he bracket races the car he wants a more consistent 60' time and launches the car with the trac tion control on. When doing this, does it tend to retard the timing do to knock? Thanks

The short answer is yes; that's why I'll pull the 10A mini-blade TCS fuse from the passenger side dashboard fuse panel. This fuse, found on the bottom row, controls the ABS, TCS and Magnasteer. When you pull it, the steering tightens up quite a bit, the ABS light kicks on, and the TCS is "really" disabled. The bonus is that the PCM won't retard the timing quite as bad.

Hope this helps,
Morgan
