Knock with 5lbs at 1/4 throttle

Ok, well I just ordered a bunch of parts for the 85 GN yesterday to complete the 87 ECM transplant(boost guage, walbro 340, tranny cooler, MAF translator, LT1 MAF, 160 thermostat, and a few other little things to get it running right.) I haven't stepped on it yet but even at 1/4 throttle and maybe 5#s of boost the knock is 1 in 1st , 4-6 in 2nd and as high as 10 in third at about 55 or so. It has a crappy carter fuel pump(supposedly for TTA), and the MAF pegs about 149 or so, and the O2s move around from .340s, to .780s at 1/4 throttle. I noticed when the engine cranks over on start up for a second it gets 1-2 of kr, but i don't seem to get it on the shifts. They are pretty firm so I figured if it was false knock I would see some there. The motor seems to run pretty smooth so I don't think it false knock in 3rd because its not hitting anything. What do ya'll think. Is the combo of the bad fuel pump and low reading MAF causing this excessive retard, FP is set at 40 with line off? Also since I switching it to an 87 ECM and MAF where can I find the 87 cal-pak?

my car used to get a lot of part throttle knock and it turns out the egr isn't working.i had little to no wot kr,but would get a few degrees at part throttle.

i had steve burn my maxeffort with less part throttle timing(like you would with a car w/o egr)and have had no problems since.

before you ask,the egr ports in my heads are completely filled with carbon and crap and i'm not gonna pull them off to fix it.

re- set the cam sensor, these engines will run with cam sensor set too far advanced, and with lotsa knock!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna check the cam sensor tommorow, and hopefully, All of the parts I ordered will show up, and I can have a little fun. One of my old friends thinks he can beat my 87 GN(the anchor pin on the band ripped off, and I'm putting in a new alto band on it) He drives an old hopped up baja bug(its pretty cool actually), that I beat before when my plugs were fouled and I couldn't even floor it in the 87. So first I'm gonna smack him with the peg leg 85 then show him up in my 87 when I get it back together. Thanks again.
