(NOTE: THIS IS MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME)
Ive always noticed in the past, on the highway, that I get KR when I stomp on the pedal and downshift. If I ease on it theres no problem, but if I go WOT I get the ubnoxious beeping from my Casper's audible knock detector.
Since swapping out the bad cam for the Speedpro the problem seems to have been amplified, it now happens on the streets and even worse on the highway. I am running alot less boost than I was trying to run in the past (~14psi), but I guess its possible that since Ive actually got the valves opening like they should now that Im moving much more air. Ive seen as much as 15-19 degrees of knock lately when this occurs, but O2's are in the 830-840 range
.
Any ideas? Knock sensor too tight? Is this the infamous tip-in knock that Ive heard mentioned and its just a TR thing that I have to live with? Ive stopped myself from writing off any KR as false anymore, because I figure if the ECM acknowledges it then youve lost timing, right? (Whether or not its from actual detonation).
Or is this the problem that Lee Thompson was having when he tried the TM V1 intake? Which is what I have.
TIA guys!
P.S. This has always been nerve-racking, especially when there is no KR problem on the topend (where you usually have to worry) but I get off the pedal anyway because of the annoying beeping (aud. knock det.) and the #s blowing up on the scanmaster. I have know idea if it is really harming the motor, or if its "false".
