All:
A very long time ago, I posted a thread looking for somebody to fabricate a bracket that would allow me to mount a boost gauge up on my hood while utilizing the under-hood light holes and bolts, thus eliminating the need for drilling, etc. I had seen a couple people accomplish this including "Nashty" from this very board. Lacking the talent to bend metal, I figured I'd turn to the board.
Long story short, Carl Ijames from the board (damn, forget his ID) responded and ultimately fabricated a bracket from stainless steel. It utilizes the holes for the under hood light, wraps around the hood, clears the molding at the cowl, and accepts an autometer gauge pod. I had the bracket powdercoated black (thanks again Carl), and mounted up a 0-35psi Autometer Ultralite gauge. It's very stable, doesn't bounce, and clears the wipers as well. Plus, it looks pretty cool
, and can be easily removed if need be. My car isn't a daily driver, so it'll probably stay put for a while
.
Anyway, just wanted to thank Carl publicly. Carl is a nice guy and easy to work with. Plus, he did a heck of a nice job on the bracket (it helps that he's a perfectionist, because so am I), and spent a good amount of time fitting it to his own car to make sure I'd be more than satisfied with the finished product.
If anybody wants to check out some pics, let me know and I'll email ya.
Thanks!
Rich
